Remember when Samsung said it will be reducing its smartphone portfolio by 30%? Well, the Korean company has just introduced two new devices, the Galaxy On5 and On7. Packed with lower mid-range hardware, these two devices are akin to Samsung’s Galaxy J series.
Their odd names aside, the On5 and On7 share almost the same specifications. Both devices have an Exynos 3475 quad-core processor (the very same chipset powering the Galaxy J2) paired with 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 128GB, a 3,000mAh battery, and LTE connectivity. As for display, the On5 has a 5-inch 720p display, while the On7 is packed with a bigger 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 panel.
Rounding out the specification of both devices are a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing shooter, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. As previously mentioned, it seems like the On5 and On7 are similar to Samsung’s Galaxy J series, which offers modest specifications at an affordable price range.
At the time of writing, the availability and retail prices of the Galaxy On5 and On7 have not been revealed yet. As usual, there are no words yet when (or if) these smartphones will be available in Malaysia.
