The Xiaomi Mi Band‘s successor has been seen in the wild, and it seems to be sporting a heart rate sensor now. Dubbed as the Mi Band 1S, it has been spotted on NCC Taiwan’s website – basically Taiwan’s equivalent of SIRIM in Malaysia. This leak is as official as it gets without Xiaomi itself confirming it.

Design-wise, practically nothing has changed between the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S and its predecessor. However, one look at the bottom of the “core” and it’s immediately evident that it has gained a heart rate sensor; there’s even a visual indicator beside it. Chances are, the heart rate sensor can be used to track users’ sleeping pattern and activity more accurately.

The Xiaomi Mi Band has been very well-received ever since it was launched. It even made Xiaomi the second top wearable vendor (after FitBit) in Q1 2015 with the smartband alone. More likely than not, its low selling price is its main attraction, along with its minimalistic design. It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi can still price the Mi Band 1S competitively, seeing how it has a heart rate sensor now.

At the time of writing, the retail price and availability of the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S are not known yet. That being said, we’re sure it’s only a matter of time before we hear from Xiaomi, seeing how it has passed through NCC Taiwan.
