iflix Goes Live

After kicking off its Private Preview session last week, the Malaysian-based video on-demand service iflix is now officially opened for business. With the objective to provide more than 10,000 hours’ worth of TV shows and movies contents from all over the world to customers in , iflix has also revealed its monthly subscription rate which has been set at only RM 8 per month.

Interestingly, iflix didn’t actually ask for any payment details during sign-up at this moment. Instead, users are given a 15 days trial for the service and they will have the option to pay for either monthly or yearly subscription fee only when the trial period is over. However, iflix didn’t announce the actual annual subscription fee at this moment.

iflix Private Preview Interface

In order to obtain the access to iflix’s free trial, users will have to provide their phone numbers in the free trial registration page. After that, iflix will then send a confirmation code that users need to enter into the site and activate their trial account.

At only RM 8 per month, iflix is certainly quite affordable and has the potential to be a huge hit in our market. Of course, contents are the key of success in this segment and iflix need to grow its library as fast as possible.

If you already have access to iflix whether through Private Preview invite or today’s Free Trial, do let us know how your experience goes through the comment section below or iflix’s thread at Lowyat.NET Forums’ Kopitiam section.

[UPDATE] Although it is not accepting any payment at moment, we did stumbled upon iflix’s subscription payment page which listed down the service’s subscription fees:

iflix Monthly Fee

So, seems like the RM 8 per month is calculated from the annual subscription fee of RM 100. For users that prefer to pay from month to month, that would RM 10 per month instead.
