Google seems to have something interesting planned for its 2015 Nexus devices. A recent rumour circulating the Internet is indicating that there will be two Nexus smartphones made by LG and Huawei this year. Curiously, the rumour is also indicating that there will be no Nexus tablet for 2015.
This bit of rumour came from the folks over at Android Police, who believe that these details are rather accurate. However, as it is with all rumour, nothing is certain until it is officially announced (as told by Android Police itself as well). In any case, the rumoured specifications of the two Nexus smartphones by LG and Huawei are interesting.
LG’s Nexus smartphone, codenamed Angler, is said to have a 5.2-inch display, which will definitely be well-received by Nexus fans who wanted a “proper successor” – seeing how the Nexus 6 has a much larger display than its predecessor – to the Nexus 5. It is also believed to be packing a battery capacity of about 2,700mAh along with an undecided processor, although the rumour is suggesting that LG is planning to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor – the very same hexa-core chipset found in the LG G4.
Huawei’s offering, on the other hand, is a bigger 5.7-inch smartphone codenamed Bullhead. Its rumoured hardware include the controversial Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3,500mAh battery. It’s interesting how Huawei isn’t using its own HiSilicon Kirin processor for its Nexus device, but there is a chance that Google played a role in the choice of hardware as well. Then again, these specifications are not official in the first place.
As for a 2015 Nexus tablet, the rumour is saying that the Nexus 9 will remain as the flagship Nexus tablet of 2015. It would be odd of Google to release as many as three Nexus devices at the same time anyway. But, that being said, releasing two Nexus smartphones simultaneously is something the company has never done before. Hopefully, the upcoming Google I/O event happening later this week will reveal more on these new Nexus devices.
