If you’re someone who takes plenty of videos of your life’s special moments – your children’s birthday parties, the family holiday outing, your recent hiking trip and such, Microsoft has just introduced a perfect app to help you make the best of all those videos. Called Microsoft Hyperlapse, just upload your videos and Microsoft will create a beautiful and more importantly, steady time-lapse video.
Microsoft Hyperlapse is available on Windows Phone, Windows desktop, as well as for Android devices. Unlike Instagram’s Hyperlapse that was introduced last year, you can upload any of your videos to Microsoft Hyperlapse and let it work its magic. The app lets you pick from different speeds from 1x up to 32x.
Microsoft Hyperlapse is a lot more than just simply placing videos and stitching them together. A lot of work are done behind the scene like for example, the algorithm will go over the videos and select a specific scene to stitch together. It will also stabilise your videos for a more professional-looking result.
The mobile app for selected Windows Phone and Android devices provides basic features, while the desktop version, Microsoft Hyperlapse Pro, is equipped with more features on board. The preview of both versions are available for download now at Microsoft’s website.
For Android users, you’ll join the Microsoft Hyperlapse Mobile for Android Preview community first before you can download the app from the Play Store. It is only compatible for selected devices including:
- Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, S6 edge and Note 4
- Google Nexus 5, 6 and Nexus 9 tablet
- HTC One M8 and M9
