Frustrated with SMS that tells you you’ve been charged a certain amount of money for a service that you didn’t subscribe to? It looks like Maxis will be taking action on such unscrupulous content providers. The telco has just suspended a company after receiving numerous complaints from users.
Since early February 2015, Maxis has received numerous complaints about a company called Jaringan Ikthiar Sdn. Bhd. The company would send SMS to Maxis subscribers informing that they have been charge RM2.50 (and sometimes more) from the company, every month. As a result, the telco has now suspended the content provider.
A quick check in our forum and Maxis’ forum does indeed reveal a whole lot of complaints from users regarding the same company. Maxis says that External Content Providers (ECP) should request confirmation from customers before subscription.
“Stern action will be taken on any content provider if any non-compliance is detected, one of which is termination of service.” – Maxis.
If your Maxis line is still receiving such messages telling that you have been charged for a content you didn’t subscribe to, you may contact Maxis at its customer service at 123 (for postpaid subscribers), 1300820120 (prepaid users), or email to customercare@maxis.com.my. Alternatively, it looks like Maxis has been very helpful with such problem in its forum – this thread is 13 pages long.
