Those who feel that 128GB is no longer enough, fret no more as Sandisk has just unveiled a 200GB microSD card. With the storage capacity of 200GB, the company’s 200GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, Premium Edition is the largest capacity microSD available in the market.
It is still not clear whether current devices will support the memory card, but if the device supports 128GB microSD cards, then it should be able to as the technology implemented is still the same. Besides that, the Ultra High Speed-I card has a transfer rate of 90Mbps, allowing users to transfer approximately 1200 photos in a minute.
Sandisk claims that the fingernail-sized card is waterproof, X-ray proof, magnet proof and temperature proof, so it will survive some of the harshest situations the memory card could possibly be in. The 200GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, Premium Edition is expected to be available worldwide in Q2 2015 with a price tag of $399.99 (about RM1450). Not only that, the microSD also comes with a ten-year warranty.
Being able to store 20 hours of FHD video, it seems that Sandisk is trying to provide users worry-free storage. A 200GB microSD card would definitely take some time before it warns its users of insufficient storage.
