Last week, Facebook tweaked its Graph Search to make it a lot easier to search for old posts, but there was also an unmentioned change – it is no longer showing web search results that were previously powered by Microsoft Bing.
Graph Search is now available on iOS
For years, when you perform a search on Facebook, on top of getting results like the people and pages related to your keywords, you will also get search results from the web courtesy of Microsoft Bing, but it looks like the last update to the search tool has completely removed the latter. This means that all you get now are people, pages, groups, apps and events within the social network. Both Facebook and Microsoft confirmed the change and even mentioned that it was implemented a while ago.
“We’re not currently showing web search results in Facebook Search because we’re focused on helping people find what’s been shared with them on Facebook. We continue to have a great partnership with Microsoft in lots of different areas.” – Facebook spokesperson told Reuters in an interview.
Well, I guess it’s something that’s not going to be missed by a lot of people since it took about four days before anyone realised that Bing results were missing. Have you ever used Facebook search to look for things on the web?
