Asus Malaysia has recently launched the RT-AC87U and the RT-N18U, two new wireless routers that are aimed towards users that have multiple devices in their households. The launch of the two aforementioned wireless routers are supposed to coincide with the recent consumer trend of adopting multiple mobile devices, says Jacky Lim, Country Manager of Open Platform Business Group at Asus Malaysia.

The RT-AC87U is what Asus Malaysia proclaims to be the first dual-band Wi-Fi router with built in security. The wireless router will employ four-receive antenna that is configured with AC2400 class dual-band gigabit wireless router coupled with multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology; which means users will be able to enjoy increased floor coverage. The router is able to ensure that the network is secured thanks to its built-in AiProtection. This means that the router also functions as an additional safeguard from potential malware and malicious websites. The router will also come with one USB 3.0 port and also two USB 2.0 ports that allows users to share 3G and 4G connection.

On the other hand, the RT-N18U is said to appeal more towards users that enjoy HD video streaming and online gaming courtesy of its TurboQAM technology which enables the router to boost network speeds of up to 600Mbit/s; resulting in an overall better internet surfing experience. Much like the RT-AC87U, this device also features a single USB 3.0 port as well as two USB 2.0 ports for 3G and 4G connection sharing.

Lim also says that in an effort to encourage widespread usage of private cloud storage, Asus Malaysia is giving away buyers of the routers a complimentary 100GB storage on Asus AiCloud, the company’s own cloud-based storage service.

Both the RT-AC87U and RT-N18U are available nationwide now at a price of RM1,199 and RM 409 respectively. For more information, head on to the official product page of the RT-AC87U  here and here for the RT-N18U.
