Asus Malaysia has announced the arrival of a new, more affordable variant of its ZenFone 6 smartphone. This new model is priced at RM699 (the current model is priced at RM899), but does have some differences in hardware.
The new Asus ZenFone 6, bearing the model name A601CG, is now powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 1.6GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM – the same as the latest ZenFone 5 (A501CG) that was recently released here. There’s also 16GB of storage, a generous 6-inch 720p display, 3300mAh battery, and a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with PixelMaster technology. This dual-SIM smartphone is running on Android 4.3, with ASUS’ own pleasant-looking ZenUI on top.
A quick check with ASUS Malaysia revealed that this new variant offers a “more affordable” large form-factor smartphone without compromising on specs. We were also told that the current RM899 variant, with the model number A600CG, may be phased out if the consumer demand is low and will be replaced by this more affordable option.
The new ASUS ZenFone 6 is now available in authorised retailers nationwide at RM699, and will be available in four colours (Black, White, Red and Gold). For more information, head on to ASUS Malaysia’s Facebook page.
