Overkill Software is preparing to hand out copies of Payday: The Heist for free on 18 October. This is in conjunction with their campaign to gain 1.5 million members on their Payday 2 Steam Community. The number of freebies will continue to grow as more people join the community.
Owners of Payday 2 are receiving extra free in-game items, and stand to get more as the count of Steam Community members closes in on the target number. Currently extra masks, weapons, and weapon mods going; with free DLC heists and characters coming soon. It is more than likely that Overkill will hit their target and unlock the final secret reward.
Payday: The Heist is a four player co-operative game that centres on players holding up banks. Unlike most games, killing civilians is considered a bad thing; with players instead encouraged to take a number of hostages to use as bargaining chips if any of the team gets arrested. The free copy of the game will probably not include any of the DLC, although most of it won’t cost too much to pick up.
