The popularity of snapchat in the last year has been astounding and Facebook is now jumping on that bandwagon with an app they call Slingshot. Diving headfirst into the “Temporary” media messenger app segment, Slingshot differentiates itself from Snapchat in a rather odd way. When you receive something from a contact in Slingshot, before you can actually view it, you have to send something back first. This is probably the only social media circle which actually requires an active participation.
While it doesn’t have the countdown timer of Snapchat and requires you to actually swipe a picture/video away to get rid of it, the app is more of a group sharing than a one to one sharing system.
