While it’s decently big here, eSports is a massive thing in China with games like DOTA 2 taking the limelight in the last couple of years. Major League Gaming, a very large eSports organization in the US, has announced plans to construct a stadium that seats 15,000 on China’s Hengpin Island. The MLG Arena is said to be part of a video game destination called V-Zone, which is due to open in 2017.
China is the worlds second largest gaming community as a whole and also home to the largest populus of online gamers. V-Zone will feature workspaces, gaming-themed restaurants, retail shops and an expo area for developers to show projects. I wonder if The International could ever make its way to Asia seeing as there are quite a few teams in the tournament from here.
