The next HTC One, codenamed M8, will apparently feature two rear cameras. Bloomberg leaked the information which comes from an unnamed source, which also revealed that the M8 will have a display that is at least 5-inches across and use a later version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor.
A twin-sensor camera setup is apparently to improve on the Ultrapixel setup which allows for better depth of field, focus, and image quality. Noting that the previous Ultrapixel camera didn’t impress many people, it won’t be too hard to improve on the quality of the predecessor. It might be that HTC is looking into post shot refocusing, or perhaps reviving an attempt at 3D pictures again. Either way, it will be interesting to find out why this configuration exists.
Elsewhere, it is mostly confirmed that the M8 will end up with the same design as its predecessor and is scheduled for a release at the end of March.
