China Bans All Apple Products in Government Agencies

Just days ago, a report was released saying that Samsung has lost its number 1 spot in China as the top phone maker, and it looks like things for Apple will not be going so well in the country either. The National Development and Reform Commission of China has recently released a ban on all Apple products in the Chinese Government agencies.

This means that all of Apple’s devices will be banned in the Chinese government agencies including Macs, iPhones and iPad. According to reports, these devices were actually included in a draft in June. The ban will apply to all central and local agencies in the country.

This is not the first time China has said no to something from the United States. Edward Snowden’s disclosure about NSA has gotten the country worried that the U.S. might be trying to get hold of their secrets. Just last week, the Chinese government published a software procurement list that excluded foreign anti-virus vendors like Kaspersky and Norton Symentec, which were previously allowed.

Although Apple claims that they have never and will never allow government access to their servers, I guess the Chinese Government is just trying to play safe. The recent confirmation that the NSA has spied on Huawei, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the country, certainly is not helping the matter at all.
