Intel Core M

Intel has announced a new fourth generation Core processor aimed at mobile devices. Known as the Core M, it will created using the 14nm manufacturing process. Intel President Renee James stated that this progression is based on Moore’s law that has been the driving force behind all of Intel’s innovation.

Core M and Core M for vPro is designed for fanless mobile devices, and will have a power consumption of less than 10 watts. The new processor will be deployed in devices coming soon, and explains why Asus said so little about the internals of their Intel based tablets during the keynote yesterday. Asus boss Jonney Shih turned up again to show off the Transformer Book T300 Chi, which will ship with the new Intel Core M processor.

Intel also revealed the processor codenamed Devils’ Canyon, the high performance new Intel Core i7 processor with four cores all running at 4GHz. The processor is aimed at gamers and is optimised for overclocking.
