Samsung May Be Developing Galaxy S5 Zoom with 19MP Camera Sensor & Hexa-Core Processor

GALAXY S4 zoom (6)

Samsung may be introducing a “Zoom” edition of the Galaxy S5, in a similar fashion to last year’s Galaxy S4 Zoom. An entry to the GFXbench database has revealed that the Galaxy S5 Zoom may feature an even larger 19MP rear camera sensor, as well as the new Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa six-core processor.

The data found on the benchmark database revealed plenty of hardware information about the device in development. The Galaxy S5 Zoom will be powered by an Exynos 5 Hexa processor, which comprises of three Cortex-A15 high-performance cores paired with three Cortex-A7 power-efficient cores with Samsung’s Heterogenous Multi Processing (HMP) technology, allowing the processor to run any combination of cores at the same time.

Besides that, the Galaxy S5 Zoom may also sport 2GB of RAM, 4.8-inch 720p display, and running on Android 4.4.2 out of the box. Round the back, the S5 Zoom will feature a 19MP rear sensor, though the data does not indicate if the sensor will feature optical zoom as is the case on the 2013 Galaxy S4 Zoom. The front-facing camera will be a standard 2MP sensor which can record in Full HD.

It appears that a large percentage of the 16GB onboard storage will be taken up by the system and the TouchWiz interface, but it is likely that there’ll be a microSD card slot that is the norm for Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

It is still early days for the Galaxy S5 Zoom, so we’re likely to hear more of it in the coming months, and probably even with slightly different specs from this initial benchmark data.
