This is not the first time Apple has been counting down the number of apps downloaded on its App Store, with iTunes gift cards up for grabs, but this is definitely the largest. Apple has started its count down to the 50 billionth app download on its App Store and this time, the company is giving away a USD$10,000 gift card to one lucky winner, along with USD$500 App Store gift cards to 50 lucky winners.
The last similar “contest” held by Apple happened last year when App Store crossed the 25 billionth download mark. The winner is a user in China who walked away with a USD$10,000 gift card for downloading “Where’s My Water?” app.
The “contest” is open to everyone who are 13 years of age or older and are located in one of the 155 countries that App Store is available in. You don’t even need to own an iOS device or even download an app to enter. All you need to do is fill in a form in iTunes and you stand a chance to be one of the 51 lucky winners. Now before you whip out your iPhone and start downloading away, you can only submit 25 entries a day. The contest will end after the 50,000,000,050th have been downloaded and according to Apple, the counter is for illustrative purposes only so please don’t depend on it.
More information available on iTunes, good luck.
