adidas Malaysia has launched its latest top-tier running shoe, the Energy Boost. Featuring a revolutionary new cushioning technology that is unrivaled in the industry, adidas is claiming that this will “change running forever”. This cushioning technology, called Boost, was earlier teased to the world via a video on the company’s official YouTube channel earlier this month.

The Boost compound is developed by BASF, the world’s leading chemical company and adidas partner, by blowing up the granular material (TPU) into small capsules which not only makes up the shoe’s distinctive midsole, but also stores and releases energy more efficiently than standard EVA cushioning, as the video below shows. The Boost compound also successfully merges soft cushioning with responsive feedback, and is not affected when used in extreme temperatures, unlike EVA.

Head on after the break to find out more about the adidas Energy Boost shoe, local availability and pricing.

In addition to the Boost compound, the adidas Energy Boost also features Techfit technology on its upper, ensuring a customized, sock-like fit that also provides optimal support for the foot while in motion. Engineered powerbands across the upper also provide targeted support and stability. Other features include a special mid-foot support frame that cradles the foot in place, and an extended Torsion system from heel to toe for added stability.

The adiwear outsole is also ensures the durability of the outsole, and extends the life of the shoe. According to adidas Malaysia, the shoe has been tested to run over 500km. Finally, as with all of adidas’ latest products, the Energy Boost also sports a miCoach module on the left shoe.

Due to extremely limited availability, only 500 pairs will be available nationwide. In conjunction with the launch of the shoe, those interested to be the first to get their hands on the Energy Boost can pre-order a pair at adidasboost.com from now until the 24th of February. Payment will only be made upon collection at two adidas outlets: Sunway Pyramid and the adidas Sports Performance Store KLCC.

The adidas Energy Boost will be sold at a retail price of RM550, and is only available in limited quantities at the two outlets listed above. Currently, it will only be available in one colour (Black), but adidas may be launching more colourways later this year.

For more information on the adidas Energy Boost shoe, head on to its official site here, or follow adidas Running via its Facebook page here.
