The adidas King of the Road running event returns to Malaysia for the third time this October 20, as one of the most eagerly-awaited running events of the year challenges Malaysians to push further and explore their physical limits. Unlike previous years, the Malaysian leg of the King of the Road series will be the final leg of the five-country series, which will see Malaysia playing host to the adidas King of the Road Southeast Asia 2013, where reigning champions from the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysian legs competing to be crowned the Regional King of the Road.
With an expected turnout of 11,000 runners, the adidas King of the Road event will feature 10 categories in total for men and women, with the inclusion of two new categories for school students aged 15 to 17. Like the previous events, the 2013 adidas King of the Road will have two race distances (16.8km and 10km) and will again take place at the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), which will be closed off to traffic from 5,30am to 10.30am on race day.
Those interested to participate can register online at www.adidaskingoftheroad.com/my. The site also contains more detailed information regarding the race proper such as registration fees, with an FAQ section available as well as race routes coming soon. When contacted, a member of adidas’ PR team noted that places are running out very, very quickly, with the running vests for the common ladies sizes already run out. An update on the adidas Malaysia Faceb0ok page also notes that 70% of the 11,000 spots have been filled. So, if you’re interested to taking part in this year’s event, you’d best register as soon as you can.
