It looks like the rumors were true, sort of. LG will officially be shedding “Optimus” from its premium smartphone naming scheme, starting off with the next upcoming flagship – LG G2. Officially announced on its Korean website, the company will instead be calling its future phones the “G Series”. The post also announced that the LG G2 is an LTE phone that is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, though, this is not something we don’t already know.
The translation seems a bit messy, but according to Engadget who received a press release regarding this news, LG also hinted on an upcoming premium 4:3 display smartphone, which will also be rebranded as simply “Vu”. All LG’s smartphones feature next generation core technologies and familiar UX with each series highlighting a different facet of the company’s product expertise.
