Previously available only through Maxis, ASUS Malaysia have just announced that the new ASUS Fonepad 7 tablet is now generally available at retail stores nationwide. As revealed by the telco earlier, the retail price of the tablet which is also equipped with telephony capabilities has been set at RM 999.
Powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 dual-core processor (previously codenamed as Clover Trail+) and enhanced with Intel HyperThreading technology, the Asus Fonepad 7 was originally announced at IFA 2013 in Berlin. One of the improvements that ASUS have provided to the new Fonepad 7 is its 42Mbps HSPA download speed which is twice the speed of the original Fonepad. The Fonepad 7 also features a bigger 5-megapixels rear camera.
However, Fonepad 7 somehow is equipped with smaller 3,950 mAh battery. Other than that, the specifications of Fonepad 7 mirrors the original Fonepad with 7-inch 1280×800 display and 1GB RAM.
