As promised, Proton earlier today have officially launched the latest addition to its car line-up in the form of the new Proton Suprima S. If it isn’t obvious, the name was derived from the word “supreme” and is touted as a car that is “fully loaded with built-in value”.
Proton stated that the Suprima S is not a hatchback version of Proton Preve but instead, they insisted that it is a brand new car that is developed for the hatchback segment. The car is powered by the company’s own 1.6-liter Campro Turbo engine that is mated with 7-speed ProTronic CVT automatic transmission which altogether produced 140 at 5000rpm and maximum torque of 205Nm from between 2000 to 4000rpm.
Apart from ride and handling tuning by Lotus, the 5-star ANCAP safety rated car is also equipped with six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, 17-inch 7-spoke rims and a 7-inch Android-based touchscreen entertainment-navigation centre console. The Proton Suprima S comes with an OTR price tag of between RM 76,338 and RM 81,988 depending on variant, color type and region.
