There is no doubt that this is the star of NVIDIA’s CES 2013 press conference that has just concluded less than an hour ago. Runs on Android Jelly Bean, the newly announced Project Shield by NVIDIA is an Andriod-based handheld gaming system that is powered by the new NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor.

Furthermore, Project Shield is equipped with a 5-inch retinal touch display that supports 720p resolution, console-grade controllers, built-in speakers with custom bass reflex system and non-proprietary input/output ports such as HDMI, micro-USB, micro-SD and 3.5mm audio jack. NVIDIA claims that Project Shield’s internal battery is able to provide up to 10 hours of gaming and 24 hours of HD video playback.

Project Shield stage demo at NVIDIA’s CES 2013 press conference, featuring the system’s PC games streaming capability.

In addition to that, the handheld system is able to stream games remotely from a PC that is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 graphics card or higher via NVIDIA GeForce Experience software. It also supports Steam as well as video playback at 4K resolution.

No mention of its actual pricing and release date but we are going to keep a tight look on this bad boy for sure. For further information, check out shield.nvidia.com.
