One of the most highly anticipated smartphones, Samsung’s Galaxy Note II is now in Malaysia. With a launch event that is themed as “Be Creative”, it is fitting for a smart device quite unlike any other, even its predecessor.

To be shipped on the 19th October in partnership with top local telcos (DiGi, Celcom & Maxis), this will be the first Samsung device to ship with the latest Android 4.1 OS, and indeed one of the first devices with Android 4.1. Sporting a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED screen, and a powerful 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, the Galaxy Note II will also have the integrated S Pen, first seen in the Galaxy Note 10.1. In addition, the Galaxy Note II will also have a gigantic 3100 mAh battery, with improved battery management software. Storage wise, the Galaxy Note II will have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of integrated storage, with a microSD card slot that can expand the storage in the phablet by a further 64GB. Despite the large 5.5-inch footprint, it only weighs a mere 180g.

In addition, the Galaxy Note II will also sport the same 8MP camera with LED flash. There is also a large 1.9MP front facing camera. New software options include Best Face, where the camera snaps five photos in quick succession, and allow users to pick and choose the best faces from any of the five photos and select them into one master photo.

The S Pen will provide a whole new experience with smartphone navigation, with the Air View feature. When users hover the S Pen over an icon, the screen will display a preview of the content. Also, when users remove the S Pen from its integrated holster, the Galaxy Note automatically launches the S Note for quick use of the S Pen. Also, the Multiscreen feature as we saw in the Galaxy Note 10.1 also makes its appearance here, where users can use two supported applications simultaneously.
