HTC’s Monster New Smartphone is a Hardware Behemoth

Rumours were running rampant for months that HTC were developing a beast of an Android smartphone that will blow the competition away. They further speculated that it will sport a 5-inch display to make it compete head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Well, there are good news and bad news. The good news is, they were right. HTC has just revealed the HTC J Butterfly, a hardware beast of a device. With a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the J Butterfly is easily one of the most powerful smartphones around.

What sets it apart from the competition, according to The Verge, is the new Super LCD 3 display on the J Butterfly. This phablet has a 5-inch, Full HD display – resulting in a Retina-obliterating 440ppi pixel density. In addition, HTC has also ensured that the size does not impede on users’ comfort, by employing the use of curved glass as well as slimming the device down to a grippable 9.1mm chassis.

So, the bad news? The HTC J Butterfly is a Japan-exclusive device, set for release in December, with no plans to sell it for the rest of the world. If it’s any consolation, the Super LCD 3 technology will be used in all future worldwide flagship devices from HTC.
