Alongside the iQOO 16, the company also launched the Pad Ultra in its home market of China. It’s the latest entry into the vivo subbrand’s gaming tablets. The name does not quite mark it as the successor to the previous entry, the Pad6 Pro, but for all intents and purposes, it may as well be.
Like the phone, the iQOO Pad Ultra also comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, but augmenting its gaming capabilities is the company’s own custom Q4 chip. The screen on the tablet is an 8.8-inch 16:10 1,440 x 2,304 AMOLED display, with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, a touch sampling rate of up to 500 Hz, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Powering the device is a 9,020 mAh battery that supports 66W charging. Also inside is a cooling system with a total heat dissipation area of 23,253 mm squared, with dual air intakes and three fan speeds.
Not quite as important on a gaming tablet, but the iQOO Pad Ultra still packs a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper. On the software side of things, it comes with the new OriginOS 7 HD overlaying Android 17. There’s also a mention of PC streaming and game emulation. Other features include a quad-speaker setup, and even dual X-axis motors for vibration
In its local market, the iQOO Pad Ultra comes in four memory and storage configurations. They’re 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. These are, accordingly, priced at CNY6,499 (~RM3,956), CNY7,199 (~RM4,383), CNY7,999, (~RM4,870) and CNY8,999 (~RM5,478). Colour options for the tablet are Black and Silver, with availability starting on 5 October.
As the company usually does, global pricing and availability details have not yet been revealed. It’s also unclear if it will make its way to our shores, but judging from the absence of the previous model, it seems pretty unlikely.
