iQOO has announced the latest flagship smartphone for its home market. As previously teased, the iQOO 16 sports a redesigned camera island. The successor to last year’s iQOO 15 also comes with a new Snapdragon chipset and some improvements, particularly in the battery department.
Starting with the display, the new handset sports a 6.85-inch AMOLED panel supplied by Samsung. This screen features a 1,440 x 3,168 pixel resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and 10,000 nits of local peak brightness. Meanwhile, global peak brightness is rated at 2,800 nits. The device also comes with an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor, as well as IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, the smartphone packs the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with the brand’s in-house Q4 gaming chip. It also comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a maximum of 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Meanwhile, an 8,400mAh battery keeps the device powered. This is a notable upgrade from the 7,000mAh cell equipped on its predecessor. That said, charging speeds remain at 100W for wired and 40W for wireless. Other than that, the phone comes with an 8,500 mm² vapour chamber for cooling. On the software side, the device runs on Android 17 via OriginOS 7 right out of the box.

For imaging, the smartphone comes with a triple camera setup. This arrangement comprises a 50MP main sensor paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Finally, the front houses a 32MP selfie snapper in a punch-hole cutout.
In China, the phone comes in three colours, which roughly translate to “Racetrack”, “Legend”, and “Chasing Light”. The last one features holographic light effects. As for pricing, the base 12GB + 256GB configuration retails for CNY5,999 (~RM3,652). For now, the vivo sub-brand has yet to disclose details on global availability.
