Following its recent global unveiling, Canon’s EOS R8 Mark II is now available for pre-order in Malaysia. The company is accepting orders through its official website, while local retailers including Camera2U and YL Camera are also taking pre-orders. Deliveries for pre-orders are expected to begin by 24 October 2026.
According to Canon Malaysia’s official online store, the body-only version is priced at RM6,999. The camera is also available with the RF24-50mm f/4-8.1 IS STM lens for RM7,699, while the RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM bundle costs RM8,598. There is also a bundle with the RF45mm F1.2 lens, which is priced at RM8,579.
Recapping The EOS R8 Mark II
In case you missed it, Canon unveiled the EOS R8 Mark II as the successor to its 2023 EOS R8 earlier this month. The new model retains the 24.2MP full-frame sensor but adds several upgrades, including five-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) and a multi-controller joystick.
The camera can shoot at up to 40fps using its electronic shutter, while its Pre-Continuous Shooting function can capture up to 20 frames before the shutter button is fully pressed. Its Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system also provides subject detection and tracking for people, animals and vehicles, along with a Register People Priority feature that allows users to prioritise specific subjects.
For video, the EOS R8 Mark II supports 6K-oversampled 4K recording at up to 60fps, as well as Full HD video at up to 180fps. Canon has also added new Positive Filmtone and Negative Filmtone colour filters, alongside features such as Handheld Night Scene mode, Creative AUTO and livestreaming capabilities.
Despite the added features, the camera retains the relatively compact form factor of the original R8. It measures approximately 131.4 x 90.0 x 79.7mm and weighs around 546g with its battery and memory card, with Canon describing it as its smallest and lightest full-frame camera equipped with IBIS.
