Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that it will soon launch the updated 2026 Volvo EX90 in Malaysia. The company made the announcement through its social media channels, although it has yet to provide a specific launch date or details on the variants and specifications that will be offered locally.
First unveiled globally in September 2025, the updated EX90 brings several improvements over the model currently sold here, most notably a switch from a 400V to an 800V electrical architecture. This allows it to support up to 350kW DC charging, compared with 250kW previously, with Volvo claiming up to 250km of additional range from a 10-minute charge when connected to a suitable charger.
The new architecture also improves efficiency and reduces the weight of the battery and electric motors. The updated EX90 retains a 111kWh battery and can offer up to 623km of WLTP range, while its Twin Motor Performance setup produces 380kW (510hp) and 910Nm.
Volvo has also upgraded the EX90’s computing hardware with a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based system capable of 500 TOPS. This supports new safety features including alerts for slippery roads, hazards and accidents ahead, as well as improved automatic emergency steering and Park Pilot Assist. The SUV also gains an electrochromic panoramic roof.
For comparison, the existing EX90 was launched in Malaysia in April 2025 at RM442,888. Volvo currently offers the seven-seat EX90 Ultra Twin with a 111kWh battery, 623km WLTP range and 250kW maximum DC charging. A 10% to 80% charge takes around 30 minutes.

The updated model’s biggest advantage is therefore its faster charging capability, while the additional computing hardware and safety features provide further improvements. That said, Volvo has yet to confirm whether the Malaysian version will receive the full global specification.
