In conjunction with the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations, Rapid KL has announced that it will be extending the operating hours of its rail service. This affects 20 stations across five lines, which will be operating until 2AM of 1 January 2026. The BRT Sunway line, selected bus routes and the Rapid KL On-Demand (ROD) service will instead be operating until 2:30AM.
Interchange stations will also have their hours extended to allow passengers to get to their respective destinations. O0ther stations will cease operation at their usual hours, but passengers will still be able to disembark from those stations. In addition to the extended operating hours, Rapid KL also says train frequencies will be increased across all rail lines. This will happen from 7:30PM of 31 December to 2AM of 1 January, much like it did last year.
In its press statement, Rapid KL says that the extended operating hours is to ensure safe, controlled and smooth passenger movement after the New Year’s Eve celebrations. In the same vein, it’s also meant to help passengers plan their journey home.
As part of that effort, Rapid KL says that over 3,000 of its front-liners will be on duty to ensure that things go smoothly. Those using their Touch ‘n Go cards should ensure that they have enough balance ahead of the journey. And for those making use of the ROD service, they should book their ride ahead of time.
