Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently teased the upcoming debut of the GLC400 e 4MATIC, hinting at an expansion of its GLC lineup in the Malaysian market. The new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV will be locally assembled, or CKD for short, much like the petrol-powered GLC450 4MATIC. The announcement was made via the automaker’s official social media channels.
In terms of design, the GLC400 e 4MATIC closely mirrors its internal combustion counterpart, featuring updated front and rear light signatures, as well as revised bumpers that lend it a sportier stance. In addition to this, customers can also opt for the optional Multibeam LED headlights and ambient lighting, featuring a projection of the Mercedes-Benz pattern.
The SUV’s interior features a new multifunction steering wheel with touch controls, along with Artico leather and microfibre upholstery that elevate the cabin’s premium feel. It also includes dual 12.3-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, the latter powered by the latest MBUX interface with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Enhancing the in-car experience is a 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, delivering rich, immersive audio quality.
Additional highlights include an intelligent voice assistant that, according to Mercedes-Benz, can continuously learn and improve when online services are activated via the Mercedes me App. Certain commands, such as answering a phone call, can even be performed without saying the activation phrase “Hey Mercedes.” The SUV also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring the MBUX software remains up to date with the latest features and enhancements.

Under the hood, the GLC400 e 4MATIC is powered by a 2.0-litre inline-four engine producing 185 kW and 400 Nm of torque, paired with an electric motor that delivers 100 kW and 440 Nm. Together, they generate a combined system output of 280 kW and 600 Nm, providing strong performance and smooth power delivery.
The 31.2 kWh battery powering the electric motor delivers a WLTP-rated range of up to 109 km on a full charge. It supports AC charging up to 11 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 100% in approximately 2.5 hours. In select markets, DC fast charging at up to 60 kW is also available, reducing the charging time from 10% to 80% to around 29 minutes.
Power is distributed to all four wheels via Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0–100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
