Apple has started rolling out iOS 26.1, bringing out features we’ve previously seen in the beta version of the update. Second most prominent on the list is likely the ability to turn off the camera Lock Screen swipe option. This is hidden at the very bottom of the list of camera options. Most prominent of the lot would likely be the option to give the Liquid Glass UI an opaque tint.
Probably worth noting is the colour of the tint depends on whether or not you have Dark mode turned on. If you don’t, then you’ll get the truly opaque look previewed before. In Dark mode, it looks more like frosted glass, and the effect is a lot more subdued, almost like the tint on a car’s windscreen.
Other smaller items in the update include more languages being supported in Live Translation with AirPods. This includes Chinese – both Simplified and Traditional – as well as Japanese, Korean and Italian. Then there’s Apple Music, letting you use swipe gestures on the MiniPlayer to go to the next or previous track. Automix also gets supported over airplay with the update.
Two more on the list has to do with local capture. One allows the iPhone to gain control of external USB mics when recording with local capture. And on that note, local capture files can now also be saved to a specific location.
