China-based company Ayaneo is primarily known for its handheld gaming devices, but it seems that the brand is looking to branch out a little. Recently, the console maker shared a teaser on its YouTube channel for a new product: a smartphone.
Unsurprisingly, the company isn’t straying too far from its roots. The Ayaneo Phone is designed with a specific niche in mind, which is gaming. In the teaser, the brand described the upcoming device as “when mobile phone meets handheld soul”. Ayaneo also revealed that it will be releasing the phone under its Remake branding.

While the teaser itself did not fully reveal the smartphone’s appearance, it does offer some hints on what to expect. It seems the Ayaneo Phone will sport a dual camera setup on the rear, much like many handsets on the market. Beyond that, the device will apparently feature shoulder triggers, which would make sense for a gaming phone.
It is worth noting that this is not the first mention of the Ayaneo Phone. The brand previously spoke of the smartphone back in July. Back then, it hinted at a sliding design not unlike the Sony Xperia Play. Again, we don’t have the full picture of the phone’s design and capabilities just yet. Similarly, the specifications still remain a mystery.

Of course, gaming phones aren’t a new concept, with brands like ASUS and Redmagic offering handsets meant for gamers. So, Ayaneo’s upcoming phone is not without competition. Whether or not it will stand out among the existing devices remains to be seen.
