It has been a little over a year since the DJI Neo made its way to the international market, making it the prime recipient of a follow-up. Now, its sequel, the DJI Neo 2, is confirmed to launch in China on 30 October.

Ever since the company confirmed the arrival of the drone to the Chinese market, various details, such as global pricing, official images, and more, have been leaked. Further, the drone is said to be bundled with various accessories, replacement parts, and year plans.

Let’s first start with the specs. So far, we know that the DJI Neo 2 is equipped with an improved 2-axis gimbal and 1/1.3-inch camera sensor, which might be similar to the one found in the DJI Mini 5 Pro. It also features AI tracking with an added infrared lidar sensor for improved safety and tracking. Leakster Igor Bogdanov shared in a post that the sensor can be found on the right wing of the drone, while an LED display for text is on the left.

The DJI Neo 2 is said to have a rear or top for its “smart returns” feature, which may mean it could have an auto-return-home function. As for airtime, it will reportedly have an improved battery compared to its predecessor, allowing for up to 19 minutes of flight. Additionally, it does have improved propellers, which are said to give a more “silent prop design”.

The drone is said to be compatible with a wide range of previously released DJI devices thanks to an added transceiver. As per DroneXL’s report, the DJI Neo 2 can be linked up with the DJI Goggle N3. The publication also mentioned that the “transceiver on the back of this drone allegedly created the necessary Ocusync connection so you can use it with existing DJI remotes”. Without it, the drone can only fly for a short distance over a Wi-Fi connection.

At the time of writing, the official retail price of the drone has yet to be disclosed. On the other hand, pricing for the optional extras has been revealed ahead of time. It will have several attachments, the first of which is the Intelligent Flight Battery, which goes for AU$129 (~RM355); a two-way charging hub for AU$79 (~RM217); propellers for AU$39 (~RM107); and propeller guards for AU$49 (~RM135). DJI is also offering a one- or two-year Care Refresh plan for AU$28 (~RM77) or AU$48 (~RM132), respectively.
