From its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset to its swappable camera module, it goes without saying that realme has put a lot of effort into the upcoming GT 8 Pro smartphone. According to reports, the device will make its debut in China later this month, but its global launch may have been moved thanks to OnePlus.
The rumour claimed that realme will host the global launch event for the GT 8 Pro sometime around 18 to 20 November. Another, more recent rumour claimed that the OnePlus 15 will debut on 13 November. Now, another rumour claims that realme has moved its product launch event sometime around 10 to 12 November as a result.

As a refresher, the GT 8 Pro has a triple camera setup featuring a 50MP 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 200MP 1/1.56-inch periscope telephoto with telemacro capabilities. It will also come equipped with 16GB RAM, and a 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 15 will have a 1/1.5-inch 50MP main shooter, a 50MP 1/2.76-inch periscope telephoto, and an undisclosed 50MP camera. The smartphone is also said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, a 7,300mAh battery, also with 120W charging speeds.

GSMArena claims that, because of this move, realme views the OnePlus 15 as the direct competition to the upcoming GT 8 Pro. To an extent, the publication is not wrong, and feels like a petty manoeuvre to one-up the brand’s longstanding rival. It’s unclear whether these phones are truly comparable to one another. We’ll only know definitively when more information is revealed, whether it is through leaks or its official launch in China soon.
