The new CelcomDigi app is set to replace the existing Celcom Life and MyDigi platforms. It promises users the best of both worlds, combining features from both apps while introducing some new functionalities. With this in mind, here’s a brief glimpse of what it has to offer.
Starting with the obvious, the CelcomDigi app features a brand new interface, although one may find some familiar elements. As with the Celcom Life app, the user’s phone number and bill information are displayed on the homepage. From here, you can access your existing lines and pay your bill. Also included on the homepage are some quick links to essential features like data usage. It is worth noting that you won’t have access to some of these functionalities without verifying your account.
For the most part, navigating through the new app should not be an issue. You can find all the features you can expect to find. Some of them may be moved to a different part of the platform, but I do think it feels more intuitive. You can see more information at a glance on the homepage, and important things like safety and support get their own dedicated tabs at the bottom of the screen instead of being hidden in a “more” section. I do have one minor nitpick, though, and it’s that the For You tab is designed to stick out of the bar more. It’s comically huge compared to the other icons.
Aside from that, the app probably works better with gesture navigation. If you’re using the old school three-button navigation, you may find the buttons overlapping with the tabs. That said, you can still access these tabs without much issue.
It seems no modern platform is complete without an AI chatbot, so naturally, CelcomDigi has included one here as well. Called AI-RA, the bot serves to answer the user’s questions. As with any other chatbot, you will be greeted with some suggested topics, including a guide for the app itself. You can also access past chats, although this is not something that’s immediately obvious. The “Ask AI-RA” buttons immediately start a new chat with the bot, and you can only see your history after exiting the chat.
In addition to the AI chatbot, the CelcomDigi app introduces a rewards system. You can find it in the For You section. Currently, there’s a daily streak “challenge” that will reward you for logging into the app for seven days straight. Other deals and promotions are listed on this page as well. According to the telco, the app will learn your preferences and display the appropriate deals here. Of course, it’s still too early to see these personalised offers yet.
All in all, the new platform feels like a natural evolution of the existing Celcom Life app. It sports a more up-to-date look while retaining the same functionality. Furthermore, the freshly-introduced features keep the app from feeling like just a reskin of the old one.
