We’ve seen whispers of a DualSense V2 early last year which promised improved battery life over the original. Things have been quiet since, but now there is a report of a V3 that’s on the way. This is claimed to come with another battery improvement, or more specifically, a removable battery.
This comes from leakster Graczdari via Polish site PPE.pl, who claims that this new DualSense is scheduled for a November launch. The V3 probably won’t be on the official marketing name as it’s mentioned as being an internal reference. And when it gets released, it will replace the existing versions of the controller in the market.

Also noted as part of the claim is that the DualSense V3 will also be bundled with a refreshed model of the PS5 Pro. A V2 of the console if you will, which is said to use 3% less power than the original. This is perhaps a similar to the many variants of the base model console, which lost weight with each iteration. Or indeed the new Digital edition of the console which lost storage space.
Beyond these, it’s unclear what else these new revisions of the console and controller provide. It’s also unclear if the removable battery for the DualSense V3 will be a version of the current rechargeable battery, or if it will be downgraded to AA batteries. Either way, having removable batteries is a pretty significant, and one would think visible, change for the controllers. So we will surely find out more once they are out in the wild.
