Update (2 October 12:10PM): Logitech Malaysia reps have confirmed that the MX Master 4 will be available on 15 October onwards. The article has been amended to include this.

ORIGINAL STORY (1 October 12:29PM):

Last week, someone made an order for the Logitech MX Master 4, and got it earlier than expected. Now, the company has officially lifted the veil off of the new entry to arguably its most popular mouse. Not much is left as a surprise though since the leak from last week came from the real deal.

That being said, it’s worth reiterating that the big ticket item with the Logitech MX Master 4 is haptic feedback. This is notable for a few reasons, the first being that it beat its gaming cousin, the Pro X2 Superstrike, to the market. It’s also implemented a bit differently, and a bit more all-encompassing than just feedback for analogue, rapid trigger clicks.

Instead, haptics on the Logitech MX Master 4 is more akin to the vibrations of a smartphone. You get a vibration for notifications, when snapping images onto grids in image editing software as well as when you first plug it in, or when battery is low. All of this is adjustable via the Logi Options Plus software. It is also centred on the thumb rest which, as previously leaked, is itself now a button. This gives it a total of eight buttons, with the thumb wheel not having a button component.

Then there are smaller improvements over the preceding model that’s not as clearly highlighted on the official product page. Engadget reports that the rubbery finish on mouse is gone save for the sides, with Logitech going back to simple plastics for the MX Master 4. Which is good news for users with sweaty hands, as that combination usually results in peeling. Then there are the larger mouse feet for a better glide. On the flip side, polling rate is stuck at 125Hz, and there’s no cable in the box for the wireless mouse.

At any rate, the MX Master 4 is listed on the Malaysian Logitech website, with a price of RM569. We’ve reached out to a brand rep to find out if it’s already available, we’re told that availability only begins on 15 October.
