vivo has confirmed that it will be bringing OriginOS to the global market. This software will be replacing the Funtouch OS currently in use for the international versions of vivo and iQOO phones. Previously exclusive to China, OriginOS is set to launch internationally on 15 October 2025.
To be more specific, the company will be launching OriginOS 6, which is based on Android 16. vivo will likely share more details on the software like its availability and rollout schedule during the launch event. The OS will first make its debut in China a week earlier, on 6 October.
Ahead of the official announcement, vivo revealed that OriginOS 6 will come with several upgrades compared to its predecessor. According to the company, the Android core system has been rebuilt from the ground up. As such, the software will feature improvements in terms of compute performance, display rendering, and memory management.
Additionally, it will come with smoother transitions, faster sharing, and new AI capabilities. The company is also taking a page from Apple’s book and introducing translucent elements to the interface, not unlike the Liquid Glass seen in iOS 26.

For now, it is uncertain whether the global OriginOS will be the same as the version intended for the brand’s home market. But at the very least, it should offer more customisation options and a smoother experience compared to Funtouch OS. Among the first phones to launch with OriginOS 6 are the vivo X300 series and the iQOO 15.
