While Xiaomi is the first to release smartphones with the freshly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset on board, other companies are not far behind. Aside from realme, iQOO has confirmed that its upcoming flagship, the iQOO 15, will be packing the new Qualcomm silicon.
Additionally, the brand has confirmed that the model headed for the Indian market will feature the same chip. So, it seems that there won’t be any discrepancies between the different models in terms of processor at least.
It probably comes as no surprise that the iQOO 15 will come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, since the iQOO 13 also launched with Qualcomm’s flagship SoC. However, there is one more noteworthy detail regarding the iQOO 15.
Apparently, the international version of the phone will run OriginOS 6, much like its Chinese counterpart. This is a shift from the brand’s current approach, in which the global models of its phones are shipped with Funtouch OS. Of course, we will have to wait and see if this global OriginOS will be just like the Chinese version.

Aside from the chipset and operating system, we do know a few more details on the iQOO 15. Previously, the company revealed that the device will sport a 6.85-inch QHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the phone will feature a Q3 gaming chip and a periscope telephoto camera. Another notable feature is the colour-changing design on the back panel.
For now, iQOO has yet to announce a launch date, but the device is expected to debut in China next month. A global launch will probably follow not too long after.
