BYD Malaysia has debuted the Seal 06 EV in the local market as announced last week, offering it in two variants: Dynamic and Premium. Additionally, Malaysia marks the first country outside of China to launch the model.
As mentioned earlier, the sedan EV is based on the Qin L EV, which has been rebadged as the Seal 06 EV. Design-wise, it features a full-width LED daytime running light positioned below angular LED headlights. The front fascia also incorporates a front grille just above the bumper, paired with air intakes.
At the rear, the sedan features an X-shaped design paired with an infinity light signature, similar to what we see on the Atto 2. This is complemented by sleek LED taillights. Other exterior highlights include a panoramic sunroof with electric sliding function, an electric tailgate, and electrically heated side mirrors. Rounding off the design are stylish 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
In terms of size, the sedan measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,860 mm. While these dimensions make it slightly smaller than the Seal, the company emphasises that the cabin remains spacious and comfortable, offering a pleasant ride for passengers.
Inside, the sedan features a clean and minimalistic design with 24 storage compartments and a combined cargo capacity (boot and frunk) of 525 litres. The cabin also comes with synthetic leather seats, with the Premium variant offering ventilated front seats. Furthermore, the Dynamic is equipped with a driver’s seat with six-way power adjustment, while the Premium gets eight-way power adjustment. The Premium also adds four-way power adjustment for the passenger seat.
The Seal 06 EV comes with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another exclusive feature is the voice assistant, now integrated with Malaysian language options including Malay, Cantonese and Mandarin, in addition to English. This voice assistant will soon be introduced across the BYD Malaysia line-up. The cabin is further enhanced with Bluetooth key, 12V socket, keyless entry and keyless start. A wireless phone charger is available exclusively in the Premium variant.
Performance-wise, the Seal 06 EV is powered by a single rear motor. The Dynamic variant produces 95 kW and 220 Nm of torque, completing the century sprint in 10.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the Premium delivers 160 kW and 330 Nm, achieving 0–100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. Both variants are equipped with a 56.64 kWh battery, offering an NEDC range of 485 km. Ride comfort and handling are enhanced by a combination of MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension.
As for pricing, the BYD Seal 06 EV starts at RM100,000 for the Dynamic variant, while the Premium variant is priced at RM115,800. Both come with a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000 km drive unit warranty, and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty.
Furthermore, the first 800 customers will receive an exclusive launch package worth up to RM6,288. The Dynamic variant comes with a free wall charger, meanwhile, the Premium variant offers two options.
For landed property owners, a free wall charger and a RM3,000 rebate. For high-rise property owners, a Sime Platinum 4+ package by Power Up, a 12-month doorstep charging programme worth RM5,000. This includes four mobile doorstep charging sessions, two monthly car hand wash and vacuum services, tyre shine, two free EV rescue services per year, and a RM1,000 rebate.
