While Xiaomi launched its 15T series on our shores, it also released another batch of phones in its home market. The flagship Xiaomi 17 lineup made its official debut as the first smartphones to equip the recently unveiled Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
Starting with the base model, it sports a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Like its predecessor, it features an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Rounding things off is an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Aside from Qualcomm’s new silicon, the Xiaomi 17 comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. It also packs a 7,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
For photography, the phone gets a triple 50MP setup comprising a main sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto camera. Meanwhile, the front is equipped with a 50MP selfie snapper.

Moving on to the two Pro models, these variants largely share similar specifications, with differences in terms of size and battery. They both feature a 120Hz AMOLED screen with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. However, the display on the Pro version measures 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max gets a bigger 6.9-inch panel.
As the company previously revealed, these variants feature a secondary screen. The regular-sized Pro sports a 2.7-inch display, while the bigger Xiaomi 17 Pro Max sports a 2.9-inch unit. Aside from the functions showcased in the teasers leading up to the launch of the phones, this panel can be used for gaming. That is, if you use the new retro case the brand is releasing with them.

Under the hood, both devices come with up to 16GB of RAM and a maximum of 1TB of storage. The Pro model packs a 6,300mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Pro Max version gets a similar battery, albeit with a 7,500mAh capacity instead.
On the imaging end, the devices feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Colour options for both variants include white, black, green, and purple. Like the vanilla model, the phones also come with an under-display fingerprint sensor and an IP68 rating.

All three members in the Xiaomi 17 series ship with Android 16 via HyperOS 3. Pricing starts from CNY4,499 (~RM2,663) for the Xiaomi 17. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro starts at CNY4,999 (~RM2,959), and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max has a starting price of CNY5,999 (~RM3,551). For now, the brand has yet to reveal any details on a local launch. It’s also still unclear whether the Pro versions will be available outside of China.
