ASUS has announced a new addition to its ExpertBook series of work laptops. This comes in the form of the ExpertBook PM3, but there’s also a desktop tower – the ExpertCentre P500SV – joining in for the launch. This, too, is made for work in mind, though perhaps in terms of their innards they don’t quite qualify as workstations.
Starting with the laptop, the ASUS ExpertBook PM3, which comes in 14- and 16-inch flavours. You only get a WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution, which is of a 16:10 aspect ratio. Processors all come in AMD flavours, but you get a range from a Ryzen AI5 330 to a Ryzen AI 7 350.
For memory, the ASUS ExpertBook PM3 starts with 16GB of DDR5, but the laptop supports all the way up to 64GB using the two available slots. Similarly for storage, the starting config has a 512GB M.2 SSD, but you can have up to 2TB M.2 for one slot, and another for the second. The company says that the laptop is now available with a starting price of RM5,199.
Moving on to the desktop tower, the ASUS ExpertCentre P500SV comes in a 8.6l form factor, and a weight of just over 5kg. This makes it pretty portable for a desktop. Made with a tool-less design, upgrading it with more storage and RAM is made simpler. On that note, similar to the laptop it starts with 16GB of RAM, but it goes up to 64GB. For storage, the default is the familiar 512GB M.2 SSD, but it goes up to two 1TB M.2 SSDs and one 2TB HDD.
For its processor, you get a choice of an Intel Core 5 210H or Core 7 240H. Graphics is done by an NVIDIA RTX A400. When these two are working hard, ASUS claims that the noise generated by the tower is only about 30dB. This is the equivalent to the sound of rustling leaves. The company says that quiet operation is one of the defining features of the ExpertCentre P500SV.
As a pre-built desktop tower, the ASUS ExpertCentre P500SV comes with a healthy amount of ports. In front, you have two USB-A 3.2 and one USB-C 3.2, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. There’s also an optional SD card reader that you can add on. At the back, you het a HDMI 1.4 port, one DisplayPort 1.4, and four USB-A 2.0. Depending on your choice of processor, it will cost either RM3,599 or RM4,099.
