MediaTek has unveiled its newest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500. According to the company, this new top-of-the-line SoC sets new standards in terms of on-device AI capabilities and gaming performance, while also improving on power efficiency.
Continuing the chipmaker’s “all big core” design architecture, the Dimensity 9500 features a single Arm C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.21GHz, three C1-Premium cores, as well as four C1-Pro cores. MediaTek claims that this design delivers a 32% higher single-core performance compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, its multi-core performance is 17% higher than the previous generation. Moreover, the ultra core uses up 55% less power at peak performance.

Aside from that, the new chipset is the first to feature support for four-channel UFS4.1, which promises 100% faster sequential data speeds. In addition to this, the new cache and memory architecture accelerates AI model load efficiency by up to 40%.
As mentioned previously, the chip also improves on gaming performance. The Arm G1-Ultra GPU offers up to 33% higher peak performance with 42% better power efficiency. Furthermore, the Dimensity 9500 is capable of double frame rate interpolation up to 120FPS, allowing for what the company claims is console-level raytracing.

As for AI functions, the SoC uses MediaTek’s ninth-generation NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0. In addition to introducing BitNet 1-bit large model processing, the Dimensity 9500 supports 4K image generation. The chip’s other features include support for up to 200MP capture, 4K video recording at 60fps, and MiraVision Adaptive Display.
According to MediaTek, the first flagship smartphones to be equipped with the chip will arrive in the fourth quarter of this year. While the company did not specify which devices will use the SoC, the upcoming vivo X300 lineup seems to be among them.
