Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav believes it is time for HBO Max to receive a price hike. The business executive made the announcement of the potential price hike earlier this week at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the head of the company reasoned that the streaming service is offering premium content and therefore must command a premium price tag to match. The media exec was then quoted by the celebrity-focused platform, believing that his platform is “way underpriced”.

Zaslav claims that his platform will be in “150 million homes” or more next year, putting the service ahead of its competitors and further justifying the price increase. He then further justified his actions by saying that TV is “a terrible consumer experience”. However, these are simply his musings and has not yet enforced them, adding that “we’re going to take our time” with the decision.
It is unsure whether or not this price hike will apply to the Malaysian market at this point in time. As a refresher, the standard plan costs RM34.90/month and its Ultimate option retails for RM52.90/month or RM279.90/year and RM424.90/year, respectively. All of this is on top of Zaslav’s plan to crackdown on password sharing on the streaming service, which he confirmed will be coming soon.
