realme is hard at work developing smartphones with massive batteries. Back in May, the brand unveiled a prototype with a 10,000mAh battery. Then, it showcased two more concept phones at its 828 Fan Festival last week. While these prototypes were only a demonstration of the technologies realme is exploring, the company has confirmed that it is commercially releasing a phone with a 10,000mAh battery.
A Weibo user asked realme Vice President Chase Xu whether the 10,000mAh phone will be launched by the end of this year. In response, he mentioned early next year as the expected timeframe for the phone’s debut. Beyond that, he offered no further details on the device, so for the time being, we can only speculate on its specifications.

This phone likely builds on the concept phone unveiled in May, which uses a 10% silicon anode battery for an energy density of 887Wh/L. Additionally, it will probably feature a slim body measuring under 8.5mm thick and weighing around 210g.
For now, the phone’s final name is uncertain. It could launch as the realme Neo 8 Pro in China, as the brand is currently preparing to release the Neo 8 lineup. That said, it’s entirely possible for the 10,000mAh phone to debut under a different name. We’ll just have to wait until the company reveals more about the device.

realme won’t be the first brand to release a smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery, though. The HONOR Power 2 will debut as the successor to the HONOR Power. According to rumours, this phone will pack a battery with the same capacity.
