Xiaomi has officially introduced HyperOS 3 as its newest operating system. The software is based on Android 16 and comes with a visual refresh. More importantly, though, it brings some new features like Super Island, as well as improvements to overall performance.
To start off, Super Island is a notification hub not unlike the Dynamic Island found on Apple iPhones. The Super Island lives at the top of the screen and provides the user with real-time app updates. This includes but is not limited to things like flight bookings, timers, messages, and music playback. Moreover, two activities can be displayed at one time.

Aside from Super Island, HyperOS 3 comes with redesigned app icons. These have a simpler look that somewhat resembles the icons seen in iOS. Other than that, the update introduces cinematic lock screens, as well as AI-powered dynamic wallpapers.
Another notable feature is the cross-device integration. Specifically, the company has improved support for the Apple ecosystem, allowing users to seamlessly connect their Xiaomi devices to iPhones, iPads, and Macs to transfer data.

As for performance tweaks, the brand claims that HyperOS 3 offers a 15% increase in gaming performance while reducing power consumption by 9% and GPU usage by 10%. Additionally, the new operating system offers smoother system animations.

The beta version of HyperOS 3 is being rolled out to eligible devices starting today. These include the Xiaomi 15 lineup, Redmi K80 Pro, Redmi K80 Extreme Edition, Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5, and Pad 7 Pro. It is worth noting that this applies to the China market. It is unclear when the update will make its way here.
