The 2026 Jeep Cherokee has made its debut after being unveiled a few months ago. The iconic off-roader is offered in four variants: the base model, Laredo, Limited, and Overland.
As we previously reported, the Cherokee adopts a bold, squared-off front end that stands in sharp contrast to the more conventional look of the previous generation. A distinctive U-shaped daytime running light signature gives it a unique identity within the Jeep line-up, while the large front bumper and pronounced lower apron elements highlight its off-road capability. Furthermore, the Jeep features a dual-pane sunroof as standard across all variants.

Inside, the Cherokee is claimed to offer more interior storage and a larger cockpit compared to its predecessors. It comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features in the cabin include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, Alexa in-vehicle assistant, and a digital rear-view mirror.
Additionally, the off-roading SUV comes with Stellantis’ new Connect One connected services package. This standard package includes 10 years of service for over-the-air (OTA) updates, a Jeep brand smartphone app for vehicle functions, and automatic SOS calls. Customers may upgrade to the Connect Wi-Fi Plus package, which provides unlimited data and numerous additional features.

In terms of performance, the Cherokee features a hybrid powertrain combining a new 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine with two electric motors. Together, it produces 210 hp and 312 Nm of torque. Power is distributed equally to all four wheels via an e-CVT gearbox.
Both electric motors in the Cherokee are integrated into the transmission. The first functions as a starter-generator for the petrol engine, eliminating the need for a conventional starter while also assisting with power delivery. The second motor can draw energy from either the first motor or the battery to drive the wheels, and it recharges the battery through regenerative braking. It also enables electric reversing. Power comes from a 1.03 kW liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that provides a pure electric range of 100 km.

A Jeep would not be a Jeep without off-roading features. In the new Cherokee, these include the standard Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 system with rear-axle disconnect, Selec-Terrain traction management with four driving modes (Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud), and approach and departure angles of 19.6 and 29.4 degrees, respectively. It also offers a breakover angle of 18.8 degrees and a ground clearance of eight inches.
Other key features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Intersection Collision Assist, Drowsy Driver Detection, and rain-sensing wipers. To further enhance safety, the Cherokee is equipped with a 360-degree camera, a front tyre-to-curb view, and turn signal-activated blind-spot monitoring.

In the US market, the Jeep Cherokee starts at US$36,995 (~RM155,397), while the Laredo costs US$39,995 (~RM168,278). The Limited and Overland trims are priced at US$42,495 (~RM178,797) and US$45,995 (~RM193,523), respectively. There’s no word on whether the vehicle or its variants will hit the Malaysian market at this time.
