Earlier this week, AMD released the FidelityFX SDK 2.0 to all developers. What developers weren’t expecting was for AMD to also release the source code for FSR4.
The situation isn’t complicated: AMD’s snafu occurred as a mistake by someone in its development group, most likely due to late night out, done in a drunken stupor, or maybe miscommunication within the ranks. Whatever the case, the repositories for FSR4 have already been taken down, but not before Videocardz took a screenshot of the files.

Much of the source code for FSR4 included libraries for INT8, which in turn means that AMD could have been opening it up to Radeon 7000 Series GPUs. For context, it currently only works with the Radeon 9000 Series GPUs, and it’s a decision that has surprised Radeon fans, ever so slightly.
Officially announced at Computex 2025 this year, FSR4 is AMD’s most up-to-date upscaling technology, and the red chipmaker’s first machine learning-based version. Compared to FSR3, the technology delivers better image quality, less ghosting, and even provides temporal stability.

The next step after FSR4 is “Redstone”. While also powered by Machine Learning (ML), Redstone is expected to include Neural Radiance Caching, ML, Ray Regeneration, and ML Frame Generation.
